This two floor, three bedroom, three bathroom penthouse apartment has spectacular water and City views that stretch from east to west on the south side, as well as beautiful mountain views on the north side. The views however were hidden from the kitchen by an interior wall and obstructed in the living room by the heavily framed sliding doors that led out onto the solarium. There was no master walk in closet and the master ensuite bathroom was small and contained an unwanted sauna. Additionally, it had a very desirable wood burning fireplace in the living room but the surround was outdated and unattractive.
Removing the kitchen wall not only brought in more light and made the view accessible to the kitchen area, it also allowed for a more spacious entry to the apartment. Replacing the pony wall on the upper level with a glass railing increased the openness of the space and brought the southern view into the upper office.
The hardwood flooring along with the open stair treads were replaced with a contemporary wide plank natural oak. Other contemporary finishes included a combination of white and walnut stained custom cabinetry with engineered quartz countertops in a matte concrete finish and Italian engineered stone in the bathrooms.
A custom walk in closet was designed to maximise the space and suit the new owner’s needs. Additionally, an upper floor solarium was redesigned to include a cedar wall and bench with pedestal mounted tile system to support a beautiful rooftop garden. The sauna was removed and a contemporary double vanity, walk-in shower and freestanding tub installed in the expanded space.
